Assemblin performs extensive power projects at treatment plant

Assemblin has signed an agreement with Veidekke regarding power installations in connection with the expansion of Stockholm Vatten och Avfalls (Stockholm Water and Waste’s) treatment plant in Sickla. The value of the order amounts to approximately SEK 130 million and will be performed by Assemblin’s industrial and power operations.

The Sickla plant, which forms one part of the Henriksdal treatment plant, is being expanded and modernised to meet the needs of a growing city, with new and efficient technology while, at the same time, meeting increased environmental requirements.

“The Stockholm’s Future Sewage Treatment includes developing the Henriksdal treatment plant and making the Sickla plant one of the world’s most modern sewage treatment plants. We are proud to be involved and to contribute our know-how and expertise in this extensive project,” says Fredrik Allthin, Division Manager and CEO, Assemblin Electrical.

“Throughout the tender process, Assemblin has demonstrated its solid experience and skills in industrial and power installation, making them a reliable partner. We welcome Assemblin to the project that we will jointly implement effectively and meet Stockholm Vatten och Avfall’s expectations,” comments Johan Håkansson, Commercial Project Manager at Veidekke Entreprenad, and Kari Stehag, Production Manager at Veitech.

The Sickla plant is mostly built into the rock beneath the Hammarbybacken ski slope to the south of Stockholm, and, for the expansion, 530,000 m3 of solid rock has been blasted out to make room for facilities accommodating basic purification, sand collection and pre-sedimentation. To serve these facilities, an advanced power plant is being build, where Assemblin is contributing specialist expertise.

The project includes delivery and assembly of mid- and low-voltage switchgear, UPS (uninterrupted power supply), frequency converters, reserve power plants, transformers, as well as cabling. Completion is estimated for 2027.

In addition to this project, Assemblin's new sister company Caverion has been awarded the installation of electrical and telecommunication systems in these facilities corresponding to a value of SEK 100 million. This shows the strength of combining Assemblin and Caverion into one group. Together, we will be able to offer our customers the most comprehensive and cutting-edge solutions across the full lifecycle of the built environment.
